How to rotate PDF pages permanently (sideways or upside-down)

A scanner that fed a page the wrong way, or a phone photo saved as a landscape PDF: rotation fixes it. Rotate PDF saves the new orientation into the file, so it looks right in every viewer.

Steps

  1. Add your PDF.
  2. Choose Rotate (clockwise 90°, 180° or 270°). Optionally type page numbers in Pages; leave it empty for all pages.
  3. Download the rotated PDF.

Which angle do I need?

  • Page lies on its left side (top points left): rotate 90° clockwise.
  • Page is upside down: 180°.
  • Page lies on its right side: 270° (which is 90° counter-clockwise).

Tips

  • Rotate only the odd ones out: type 3, 8-10 in the pages box instead of turning the whole document.
  • If you cannot tell which pages are wrong, use Organize PDF to see thumbnails and rotate visually.
  • The rotation is added to whatever the page already has, so rotating twice by 90° equals 180°.
  • Viewers that let you “rotate view” do not change the file. This tool does.

If page content ends up too close to the edge after rotating, add white space with Add margin. Page range formats are explained in the cheat sheet.
