How to resize an image to exact pixels or a percentage

Profile pictures, banners and portal photos each ask for a particular size. Resize image handles single files or batches.

Steps

  1. Add your images.
  2. Choose Resize by: dimensions or percentage.
  3. For dimensions, enter Width and optionally Height (0 means automatic) and keep Keep proportions ticked. For percentage, set Scale.
  4. Pick the Output format (same as the original by default) and Quality.
  5. Download.

Tips for common jobs

  • Web photo: width 1600 px, height automatic.
  • Exact box (like 600 by 600): untick Keep proportions, but note the picture will stretch if its shape differs. For no distortion, crop first in another editor.
  • Half size: percentage mode with 50.

Quality and size

Making an image smaller removes detail, so shrink once from the original. Making it bigger cannot add detail; it only gets blurrier.

Next steps

If the file is still heavy, use Compress image. To change the format, use Convert image. The format guide helps you choose.
