How to make thumbnails of a PDF's cover or every page
Websites, document libraries and email newsletters often need a small cover image of a PDF. PDF thumbnail generator makes them at the width you specify.
Steps
- Add your PDF.
- Choose Pages: first page only, every page, or choose pages.
- Set Thumbnail width (default 480 px) and Format (JPG, WebP or PNG).
- Download the thumbnails.
Choosing a width
- Link previews and cards: 480-800 px.
- Small list icons: 160-240 px.
- High-density screens: double the displayed width, for example 960 px for a 480 px slot.
Format
JPG works everywhere for page covers. WebP is smaller on the web. PNG keeps text sharper but creates bigger files. See JPG vs PNG vs WebP.
Tips
- If you need full-size page images, use PDF to Image.
- To resize a thumbnail again later, Resize image handles it.
- Name the files after your document and keep the page number so they stay organised.
