How to make a Wi-Fi QR code guests can scan to join your network
Reading out a long Wi-Fi password is annoying. A QR code lets visitors join by pointing their camera. QR code generator builds one without sending your password anywhere.
Steps
- Under What is it for? choose Wi-Fi network.
- Enter the Network name exactly, including capitals and spaces.
- Enter the Password and choose Security: WPA (right for almost all modern routers), WEP (very old) or No password.
- Download as PNG or SVG and print or display it.
Tips
- Special characters in the name or password are handled automatically.
- Use High error correction if you will print it small or laminate it.
- Keep a dark code on a light background.
- Test it with a second phone before printing.
Security note
Anyone who sees the QR code can join the network. Put it where only the right people can see it, or use your router’s guest network.
Other presets
The same selector can build codes for email, phone numbers and text messages, so scanning opens a ready-to-send draft or dial screen.
