How to extract pages from a PDF into a new document
Need only the signed page, one chapter or a few pages for a form? Extract PDF pages makes a new PDF containing just those pages.
Steps
- Add your PDF.
- In Pages to keep, type pages and ranges such as
1, 4-6, 9. The default is1. - Download the new PDF.
How it differs from other tools
- Split PDF produces several files; extract produces one file with the pages you pick.
- Remove pages is the opposite approach: you list what to drop.
- Organize PDF is best when you want to see thumbnails and drag pages.
Tips
- Pages come out in the order you typed them if your ranges are out of order, so
5, 1-2puts page 5 first. Try a small test first if you rely on this. - Pair it with Merge PDF to build a custom bundle from several documents: extract the pages you want from each, then merge.
- The extracted PDF is usually smaller, but not always, because shared resources like fonts may still be included.
Common mistakes
Typing page numbers from the printed footer instead of the position in the file, and forgetting that the first page is 1, not 0. The page ranges cheat sheet lists the accepted formats.
